Air Canada & LVCVA celebrate new Vegas route at YEG

Ahead of its new upcoming flight from Edmonton, Air Canada Rouge celebrated all things Las Vegas last Thursday (Aug. 23) at the Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel.

The evening event for more than 100 travel agents was hosted and attended by representatives from Air Canada, Air Canada Vacations, Air Canada Rouge, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and Edmonton International Airport.

Duncan Bureau, president Air Canada Rouge, began the evening by affirming their commitment to the city of Edmonton.

“We are very excited about our operation here on Oct. 28;our inaugural flight to Las Vegas. Edmonton is a city we are keen to add more capacity to, particularly to sun destinations. People in Edmonton and Alberta in general are very fond of Vegas, weekend getaways and sun destinations, especially in the winter. So we see this as a great opportunity to come back into Edmonton and we think it will be very successful.”

New Rouge service

Air Canada Rouge will begin offering daily service from Edmonton to Las Vegas on Oct. 28 through April 20, 2019. The airline continues to grow having started with three planes five years ago carrying over 25 million passengers through a network of 53 airplanes, servicing over 100 destinations.

“Rouge is doing incredibly well and we continue to grow our investment in Vegas across the country," Bureau added. "With the right economics and right capabilities with Rouge, we are in a position to compete with anyone in the marketplace. Being a part of larger networks gives our guests access to more cities, lounges, and Aeroplan offering more value to our customers. We have a very competitive product against other airlines, including US airlines and it is the overall network that sets us apart. We hope to reach the next 25 million passengers much quicker than in our first years and we are committed to our travel agent community as they are an important partner in helping us fill those seats.”

“Air Canada Vacations has had exponential growth to Las Vegas in the last 2 years, not just for Western Canada but nationally,” according to Marigold Frontuna, General Manager Sales for Western Canada. “We have a number of hotel choices, anywhere from 3.5 star to 5 star that will suit all client budgets. One of our key strengths is our connectivity. Even though we are having a direct flight from Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver to Vegas, we have many secondary cities that we service which is ideal for group business. Our commitment to Vegas is so critical we have included Vegas and the hotel lineup in the new 2019 Sun brochure recently published.”
