Carnival puts proposed room service fees on hold

After previously announcing a change in cost for the majority of food and beverage offerings included in their à la carte room service, Carnival Cruise Line says its rethinking its strategy.

In a Facebook post written Jan. 6, John Heald, an ambassador and cruise director for Carnival, wrote:

Hello everyone, hope you are all having a brilliant Sunday. I had previously told you about changes to our room service offerings that would go into effect in January. I wanted to let you know that we are in the process of making some adjustments to that plan to balance the interests of our guests with our efforts to reduce food waste costs. For the time being then, there will be no changes until we finalise a plan that will I will communicate to you all.

Heald's Facebook page has more than 200,000 followers. Feedback on the post was mixed, with some saying it was the right move, and others disagreeing. 

In an email to PAX, Vance Gulliksen, PR manager, Carnival Cruise Linesaid:

"We had previously communicated changes to our room service offerings that would go into effect in January. We are in the process of making some adjustments to that plan to balance the interests of our guests with our efforts to reduce food waste costs. For the time being, there will be no changes until we finalize a plan that will be communicated to guests and travel agency partners alike."
