UnCruise Adventures has expanded further into Central America, with a new itinerary featuring Belize and Guatemala.
The new Belize & Guatemala Wonders – Rivers, Reefs & Cultures itinerary will offer six departures between October and December 2020, sailing roundtrip Belize City on the 66-guest Safari Voyager. The weeklong adventure cruise includes explorations of Belize’s Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the second largest coral reef in the world with more than 500 species of fish. Travellers will also snorkel, swim, kayak and relax on the beach at Ranguana Caye, Carrie Bow Caye and Laughing Bird Caye National Park, while guests may also see scientists at work studying coral, seagrass and turtles at the Smithsonian Marine Field Station.
“Belize and Guatemala are a natural fit for an UnCruise adventure,” said Captain Dan Blanchard, owner and chief executive officer of UnCruise Adventures. “Our free-flow style of active exploration works well here with the islands, reefs, and cultural and wildlife opportunities. The snorkeling here is over the top with colorful fish and coral.”
In Guatemala, cruisers can look for monkeys and toucans on a skiff ride up the Rio Dulce and explore the town of Livingston, while hiking enthusiasts can trek from town to The Seven Altars Waterfall. Back in Belize, Punta Gorda’s colorful market and nearby Mayan ruins bring culture and history alive.
Other highlights include a hike in Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, a visit with local Garifuna people and a class on coconut or baked goods at Punta Negra. Guests may see manatees, crocodiles, turtles, howler monkeys, birds and myriad tropical fish.
