Kempinski Hotels and Grupo de Turismo Gaviota SA have signed a management contract for Cayo Guillermo Resort Kempinski, the first five-star luxury resort complex in Cuba.
After having successfully managed the country’s first five-star city hotel, Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana, for almost two years, the brand will enhance its presence on the Caribbean island and will further extend its footprint in the Americas. Cayo Guillermo Resort Kempinski is currently under construction and is scheduled to open during 2019.
About the resort
The all-new resort hotel in Cayo Guillermo, approximately 500 kilometres east of Havana, will offer guests an experience of exclusivity and privacy away from the hustle and bustle of Cuba’s capital city.
The non-all-inclusive resort hotel was inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s legacy and love for the Cayo, reimagined for the contemporary traveller.
The resort will be built like the bow of a boat advancing into the Atlantic Ocean. Surrounded by a breathtaking natural landscape and extensive gardens, it will offer 245 rooms and suites.
These will include six over-water villas with stunning panoramic views and a minimum size of at least 75 sq. m. each, plus a 200 sq. m. over-water presidential suite, all of which will have private pools. The majority of the standard guest rooms will also boast unobstructed sea views, while the famous white sand beach of Playa Pilar will be directly adjacent to the resort.
Cayo Guillermo Resort Kempinski will ensure an unprecedented luxury experience, including spa and yoga, extensive pool landscapes and an unparalleled gastronomic delight.
Specialty and buffet restaurants will provide the freshest seafood and will set the resort apart from all other offerings on the Cayo. A kids' club, gym, tennis court, lobby bar and cigar bar round off the exclusive facilities in this luxurious hideaway.
