PHOTOS: New luxury hotel by Transat & Marival opens in Mexico

Armony Luxury Resort and Suites officially opened in Punta Mita on Mexico's Pacific coast May 1, representing a new chapter in Marival and Transat's joint ventures. 

The newly-unveiled property is about a 45 minute drive from downtown Puerto Vallarta and sits on a coveted beach in Banderas Bay.

“We are excited to have this joint venture with Transat,” Bea Barbero, corporate director of sales at Marival Resorts, said in a statement to PAX.

Barbero said the new resort will form part of the luxury collection for Transat, which "will give us an upscale feel just as we have with Marivel’s residents property.”

Adults-only section available

The hotel, which has an adults-only section, has 268 rooms and suites, 281 meters (922 feet long), beachfront, five pools (one of them is an infinity pool), four Jacuzzis, specialty restaurants and beautiful gardens, according to the hotel's website.Eighty suites are “nestled within the property,” Barbero said. Those run from one to three-bedrooms and can accommodate groups or families of up to nine people.

“The property is beautiful!” exclaimed Susan Kooiman, senior business development representative of key accounts at Transat, who had an opportunity to tour the property on opening day.

The name “Armony” is derived from a Greek word that means agreement/concordance and is related to the verb “connect,” Barbero told PAX.

The word harmony, with an “H,” is connected to a musical note. “But for us, ‘Armony,’ without the 'H,’ is a state of balance with the environment,” Barbero told PAX.

The property will be unveiling more sections that are currently under construction in the next coming weeks.  

Barbero said the resort is suitable for guests who are “looking to spend time in one unit that has a living and dining room area where you can connect as a family together, but still retreat to your own privacy.”

The Marival Group was founded in 1984 by Canadian Senator Pietro Rizzuto, and started it's operations as a condo-hotel concept. 

According to the company’s website, it was one of the “driving forces behind the development in Nuevo Vallarta” by introducing all-inclusives in 1987.

“We are the pioneers and have been doing so for 35 years in creating and transmitting that home feeling,” Barbero told PAX.
