Gamers who grew up playing Centipede and Missile Command will get to live out their video arcade dreams, with the launch of a new chain of hotels based on iconic video game company Atari.
GSD Group, which will licence the Atari brand, will break ground on its first U.S. property in Phoenix, Arizona later this year, with plans to expand the to Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco and San Jose.
While full details are yet to be announced, the hotel concept will incorporate “fully immersive experiences for every age and gaming ability, including the latest in VR and AR (virtual and augmented reality),” Atari said. Select hotels will also feature state-of-the-art venues and studios to accommodate esports events.
