RIU Hotels & Resorts will open its first Asian property tomorrow (Aug. 5) when the five-star Riu Sri Lanka welcomes its first guests, the first step in the hotel chain’s eastward expansion.
The newly-constructed property, located in in Ahungalla in southeastern Sri Lanka, features 501 rooms and offers a 24 hour all-inclusive service. The hotel has three large pools and a children's pool, sunbathing terraces, jacuzzi, gym and the Renova Spa wellness centre which includes a hairdresser and massage service. The property will also feature five restaurants offering a variety of fare, four bars and a nightclub.
RIU will open three more hotels in Asia and the Middle East between 2018 and 2019. The first will be in the Maldives, where two hotels will be inaugurated offering a combined total of 422 rooms, including suites constructed over the water. In addition, the chain plans to open its first hotel in the UAE in Dubai in 2019, to be located on the Deira Islands and will be unique to the area. With 750 rooms it will be the largest ever constructed and the first to offer a 24 hour all-inclusive service.
