Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort and Air Canada Vacations welcomed travel agents to the Scotiabank Theatre in downtown Vancouver last night to discover what’s new at Disney. There was also a special screening of the company’s latest film, A Wrinkle In Time.

“It’s all about highlighting what’s coming up this summer,” said Angela Stecca, Disney Destinations’ district sales manager for Western Canada, before outlining the new developments to PAXnewsWest.

Walt Disney World Resort

Toy Story Land opens June 30, 2018, and will span 4.5 hectares. The resort will feature two new attractions, a revamp of an old favourite, and all of the classics from the world of Woody, Buzz and Jessie, with life-sized decoarations like crayons, Rubik’s cubes, cooties and green army men.

Slinky Dog Dash is a family-friendly roller coaster that zips above Toy Story Land; Alien Swirling Saucers features aliens towing guests in their rocket-ship toys while “The Claw” hangs overhead; and Toy Story Mania! gets a new, colourful toy carnival game box entrance.

At Magic Kingdom, guests party with Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Frozone and Edna Mode from “The Incredibles”.

Star-Lord and Gamora from “Guardians of the Galaxy” join an alien band for a dance party featuring the music from Awesome Mixtapes 1 and 2 at Epcot.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrates its 20th anniversary with a character celebration featuring Donald Duck in Dinoland U.S.A, and a new special perofrmance from UP! A Great Bird Adventure with Ruseel and Dug. Pandora-the World of Avatar- and Avatar's Flight of Passage, the top-rated attraction at Walt Disney World Resort will also be highlighted this year.

Disneyland Resort

Pixar Pier, opening this summer at Disney California Adventure Park, features the Incredicoaster, a high-speed experience that features characters from “The Incredibles” plus special effects and lighting, in one of four neighbourhoods that celebrate Pixar favourites like Toy Story and Inside Out.

The “Paint the Night Parade”, with characters from Toy Story, Monsters, Inc. and Cars opens in Disney California Adventure Park on April 13.

Part of Pixar Fest at Disneyland Park, “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” is an immersive fireworks show that celebrates Pixar stories through the decades.

“Pixar Play Parade” opens in the park on April 13, and features the famous Pixar Lamp along with Russell, Kevin, Carl Fredricksen and Dug from the film “UP”. Star Tours – The Adventures Continue boasts a new sequence that takes guests to Crait, the site of an epic battle in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and the remote outpost of Batuu.

The Disneyland App allows guests to purchase tickets and find other information including attraction wait times, FastPass return times, maps, entertainment guides and Disney MaxPass, which allows guest to reserve digital Disney FastPass selections from their mobile devices while in the parks and download, share and save unlimited Disney PhotoPass photos.

Air Canada

Air Canada flies direct from Vancouver to all the destinations with Disney properties around the world, noted Edna Ray, regional sales manager, BC for Air Canada.
