Interest in Cartagena on the rise amongst Canadian travellers

Cartagena, Colombia is the top trending destination among Canadians in Kayak’s 2018 Travel Forecast, with a 58 per cent year-over-year increase in online searches for the city.

The report cited increased flight routes, record low crime rates and a booming economy for the increased interest in Cartagena. Phuket, Osaka, Bali and the Maldives also topped this year's list of trending destinations for Canadians, with nine out of the top ten trending destinations outside of Canada.

Kayak’s top 10 trending destinations among Canadian travellers, described as destinations with the greatest percent increase in searches year over year, include:

1. Cartagena, Colombia - searches up 58 per cent
2. Casablanca, Morocco - searches up 51 per cent
3. Phuket, Thailand - searches up 50 per cent
4. Osaka, Japan - searches up 49 per cent
5. Bali, Indonesia - searches up 46 per cent
6. Male, Maldives - searches up 44 per cent
7. Jacksonville, Florida - searches up 38 per cent
8. Faro, Portugal - searches up 38 per cent
9. Oranjestad, Aruba - searches up 37 per cent
10. Kahului, Hawaii - searches up 36 per cent
