Air Canada Vacations flew into Calgary to host travel agents at the Metropolitan Centre last week, starting its ACV Dream Makers Sun Product Launch events in the West to show its commitment and support to travel agents because ‘West is Best!’
The sold out event in Calgary did not disappoint. The evening started with celebrations from Nino Montagnese, managing director for Air Canada Vacations, for travel agents, travel trade suppliers, Air Canada's 80th birthday (Sept. 6) and Air Canada Rouge's 4th anniversary.
Also noted was the commitment from the travel trade suppliers from destinations currently battling Hurricane Irma and dealing with its devastating consequences.
Their attendance to support the ACV Dream Makers Launch event did not go unnoticed, further cementing their commitment and partnership with Air Canada Vacations, and collectively with the whole travel trade industry, including travel agents.
In Calgary, Air Canada has increased its capacity by 250 per cent with larger plans and more destinations, aiming to bring sun destinations closer to passengers in the West.
Winston Chang, Sandals business development manager for Western Canada, said the company was proud to further solidify its commitment to the travel trade by continuing its partnership with Air Canada Vacations, which has existed since 1981.
Sandals Resorts, premier sponsor of the event, is offering an exclusive 15 per cent commission to all Sandals/Beaches bookings with ACV through Oct. 1 with a price match guarantee, and a dedicated Sandals phone number and email for ACV.
Product updates were presented with playful banter between George Plantanitis, Vice-President of Marketing and E-commerce, and Marigold Frontuna, General Sales Manager for Western Canada.

Air Canada Vacations Mega FAM – 4 new Mega FAMS are being offered by ACV in late October and November including Calgary to Los Cabos, Toronto to Liberia and Montreal to Santa Clara and Montego Bay.
Travel agents are encouraged to apply to any of these FAMS for a personal experience in the destinations. All registrations for these FAMS from the Calgary event will have the opportunity to be entered to win one of ten spots and attend for free.
New Agent Guide – a new handbook for travel agents is now available to help guide agents on ACV products, product lines, where to book, how to book and other common questions about booking ACV packages.
The new ACV 2017/2018 Sun Collection brochure debuted with over 700 resorts in 40 sunny destinations and 60+ new resorts this year. Collections include Luxe, Spa, Boutique, Spotlight, Family and Adults Only (18+) offering different resort options and unique amenities for different traveller styles.
A new luxury brochure will be launched in November exclusively by invitation only to travel partners with the affluent clientele looking for concierge service, upscale and unique travel experiences and geared towards bucket list travel.
A new Europe brochure will also be released this year to include new supplier partnerships with Contiki and Trafalgar to include fully packaged vacations to Europe including air.
An agent program is also coming for travel agents with incentives to earn up to 4 air seats for personal travel by booking groups. ACV & Me Rewards Program continues to offer Aeroplan rewards for travel agents booking ACV.
The event ended with a renewed focus and commitment to the travel trade assuring travel agents that there are lots of choices, new offerings available with more coming soon and rewarding agents with prizes.
As a surprise ending, Canadian hip hop talent, singer, songwriter and producer Karl Wolf burst onto the stage with explosive energy bringing all attendees to their feet with a dance party and performance.
