Agents explore Los Cabos with ACV

Air Canada Vacations (ACV) hosted a travel agent MegaFAM to Los Cabos, Mexico chartering a Boeing 767 from Calgary.

About 180 travel agents were treated to a first class experience with Air Canada Rouge to Los Cabos with ACV staff, three different host resorts and site inspections at 15 resorts throughout Los Cabos. The whirlwind trip concluded with a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort, sponsored by the Mexico Tourism Board and the Los Cabos Tourism Board.

Los Cabos, Mexico is located at the most southern tip of the Baja California peninsula and includes both San Jose del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas and the resorts along the tourist corridor highway between the two towns. Surrounded by 90 per cent water and contrasted with a rugged terrain, Los Cabos offers a diverse mix of options for all ages.

The powerful force of the Pacific Ocean creates a strong undertow so most of the beaches in the area are not swimmable, with a few exceptions. The desert climate provides almost year-round sunshine and since the hurricane of 2014, the significant amount of rainfall received has created a beautiful lush green landscape, perfect to accompany the signature golf courses, many of which are designed by professional golfers.

Here's a sampling of the properties visited:

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos overlooks the Sea of Cortez offering spectacular oceanfront views. The 500-room all-inclusive resort is perfect for all ages, including families staying at the Ziva Suites, providing a private balcony and living area, two bathrooms and king bed with a sofa bed. Their signature “service from the heart” is evident throughout your stay in addition to complimentary WiFi, KidZ Club and waterpark, swim-up suites, 24 hour room service, and top shelf liquor.

Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos is located close to San Jose del Cabo with 350 rooms offering stunning oceanviews in private balconies. Three a la carte restaurants including Italian, Mexican and Seafood specialty are available for guests to dine up to a maximum of four times during a seven-night stay (reservations are required). Guests who have upgraded to the Premium Level have unlimited access to the a la carte restaurants, complimentary WiFi and 24-hour room service.

Solmar Resort, exclusive to Air Canada Vacations, is one of the oldest and among the first resorts in the Los Cabos area. It was recently expanded to include Grand Solmar Resort and is located on the tip of the peninsula with oceanfront views of the Pacific Ocean. All rooms include a kitchenette complete with stove, microwave, toaster, blender and coffee maker. The Master Suites have kitchenettes with a full fridge, two bathrooms and a dining and living room area. Guests can choose an all inclusive option, or European Plan. The boutique resort with only 102 rooms is ideally located in Cabo San Lucas, a quick walk into downtown and the marina.

Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa is an oceanfront resort with 230 rooms, which has been completely renovated since extensive damage from Hurricane Odile in 2014. The resort reopened in October 2015 after one year of full renovations to restore the property to an elegantly modern and upscale luxurious resort. Top shelf liquor, 24-hour room service, unlimited calls to Canada and the US and complimentary WiFi are included with all reservations. Upgrade to the Preferred Club for private check-in, lounges and pool areas with personalized concierge service.

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf and Spa Resort offers 500 suites surrounded by the mountains and Baja Desert, only 10 minutes from San Jose del Cabo. The secluded resort offers luxury and privacy away from the bustle of the busy Cabo San Lucas. Surrounded by two golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, the resort is perfect for golf getaways. The Secrets Spa by Pevonia is over 12,000 sq ft of pure bliss with spa treatment options in 21 rooms, a full service beauty salon and an extensive aromatherapy circuit.

Paradise awaits at Paradisus Los Cabos, where within a crescent cove a small section of swimmable beach area is protected by the powerful waves of the ocean. The 350 all-suites resort includes a private terrace or balcony, WiFi, 24-hour room service, and Nespresso coffee maker. Upgrade to Royal Service or Family Concierge for personalized butler service, luxury suites, and pool concierge. GastroBar by Martin Berasategui offers an elegant signature cuisine experience from the eight-Michelin Star chef. Paradisus also offers one of the largest convention centers in Los Cabos, perfect for large conventions and incentive groups.
